Hey Archers
I had my framebuffer working with arch with grub-legacy using vga= settings.... but I decided to use Grub2, and it works well....
although I am not able to enable my framebuffer using the method on the wiki which was by editing:
GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768x32
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep
I tried lots of different resolutions and I would get a black screen when the grub screen should appear... so I had to chroot into it and fix the resolution...
it is my understanding that these settings in grub 2 should change the grubscreen resolution as well as the console resolution..... (correct me if im wrong) or is it just for the grub screen menu?
anyways.... any ideas/tutorials on how to get my framebuffer so I can work happily in the terminal again?
maybe I need a different video driver for the boot.....
any ideas?
cheers
kaddy

actually.... I just found that I can still use the vga= option in /etc/default/grub next to this line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=
mine is GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash vga=792"
all good
