Reinstall package including config files

Hi,

I'm trying to reinstall openssh so I can get fresh config files. I tried removing it with pacman -Rns but kde-agent depends on it.

I have also tried pacman -S to reinstall it but it doesn't refresh the config files.

Are there any alternative pacman arguments I am missing to do this?

Thanks,

Re: Reinstall package including config files

Hi,bennylb0:
I am not clear about your so-called "config file",I mean,if you are talking about the config file in /home,then removing them will do,if in/usr,pacman -S will do,I suppose;if that doesn't work, you might remove your config files in /usr and run pacman -S then. That's all what I know.Hopefully my words will help you, please.:P

Re: Reinstall package including config files

Thanks for your suggestion. I managed to configure the ssh_config and sshd_config file to my requirements without restoring them back to there defaults.

Thank you for your reply it was much appreciated.

Re: Reinstall package including config files

For future reference; you can simply delete the old config file, and reinstall the package, or extract the "default" config file from the package using tar(1).
