Etoile help

I found linux a few months ago with Ubuntu. Yesterday I decided I was ready for something, more and started setting up Arch Linux. I typed in the commands off the website like a good little boy, but ran into trouble when I tried to get the Etoile desktop environment from http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=24948.

I have all the dependencies, but when I try makepkg, I get:

patching file Frameworks/MediaKit/MKMediaFile.h
patching file etoile.make
patching file Languages/LanguageKit/CodeGen/GNUmakefile
patching file Languages/LanguageKit/CodeGen/CodeGenLexicalScope.cpp
patching file Languages/LanguageKit/CodeGen/LLVMCodeGen.cpp
patching file Frameworks/EtoileFoundation/GNUmakefile
This is gnustep-make 2.4.0. Type 'make print-gnustep-make-help' for help.

Re: Etoile help

Greetings,

Looks like no one has an answer for you. I am sorry, but I myself never got it installed right last time I tried some time ago.

Etoile is not even in beta release mode I don't thing, still being heavily developed on and constantly changed and updated, so even if you got it installed, you are most likely going to encounter an unusable for everyday purposes desktop.

Why are you trying to get Etolie as your main environment on an new install anyways? Are you simply looking for a lightweight environment? If so, I suggest lxde, e17, or xfce if you must have a desktop environment. If you like it's looks, I think you can get gnome and maybe kde to look similar. If you want a WM, try something like pekwm, openbox, icewm, etc.

All of these are installable typically with pacman -S package name.

If you must have etoile, best of luck to you. There are different scripts here that you can try, just search for 'em. Also make sure you go ahead and grab all the gnustep dependecies, that should help since etoile is built on gnustep. But again, I must strongly advise against using etoile right now.
