Controlling different application sound?

Hi all,

I was wondering if we could set a different volume per application or mute a certain window with the current alsa?

i.e. two firefox windows open, could I mute one and leave the sound on the other one?

Re: Controlling different application sound?

I could do this passing all my audio through jack. Once all audio goes through jack you can start plugin mixers, filters or whatever you want.

Also, there is pulseaudio, probably easier:

Re: Controlling different application sound?

But no option will give you per window volume management, since audio comes from the application, not from the windows it opens.
