No headphone output unless plugged in halfway, works fine in Windows

Hi, my built in speakers on my Asus laptop work fine but when I plug in headphones I get no sound output.  The strange thing is, if I plug the jack in part of the way I can hear some sound.  I have absolutely no idea what is causing this.  I am on Arch x86_64 on a Asus G60vx with the ALC663 audio chipset.

lsmod | grep snd:

snd_seq_dummy 1439 0
snd_hda_codec_realtek 258986 1
snd_seq_oss 28928 0
snd_seq_midi_event 5412 1 snd_seq_oss
snd_hda_intel 22514 3
snd_hda_codec 68863 2 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel
snd_seq 50530 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_seq_device 5233 3 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq
snd_hwdep 6150 1 snd_hda_codec
snd_pcm_oss 39096 0
snd_mixer_oss 16956 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 70924 4 snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm_oss
snd_timer 19684 3 snd_seq,snd_pcm
snd 57209 15 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_seq_oss,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_hwdep,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer
soundcore 6153 1 snd
snd_page_alloc 7161 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm

In alsamixer there is a headphone channel that is unmuted but I cannot change the volume, and if I look in Gnome's volume control I can check the headphone switch but it does't work whether it is checked or not.

I have exhausted all of google's reqources on this matter I cannot figure it out.  Help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: No headphone output unless plugged in halfway, works fine in Windows

Something VERY strange happened.  After rebooting a couple times the headphone channel disappeared and now the heaphone jack works perfectly and so do the speakers.  I tried some settings so that could of done it but I don't really know.  Mods can close this now.

EDIT:turns out it must have been this line in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf:

options snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode3
