Hi, my built in speakers on my Asus laptop work fine but when I plug in headphones I get no sound output. The strange thing is, if I plug the jack in part of the way I can hear some sound. I have absolutely no idea what is causing this. I am on Arch x86_64 on a Asus G60vx with the ALC663 audio chipset.

In alsamixer there is a headphone channel that is unmuted but I cannot change the volume, and if I look in Gnome's volume control I can check the headphone switch but it does't work whether it is checked or not.
I have exhausted all of google's reqources on this matter I cannot figure it out. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Something VERY strange happened. After rebooting a couple times the headphone channel disappeared and now the heaphone jack works perfectly and so do the speakers. I tried some settings so that could of done it but I don't really know. Mods can close this now.
EDIT:turns out it must have been this line in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf:
options snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode3
