New fontforge is buggy.
The new fontforge update is horrible, it crashes and things don't work right (for example you can't bend a line to make a curve) it doesn't output any errors it just segfaults. I'm running on a machine with 1280 MB of RAM so I don't think memory is a problem.
Personally, I'd rather be back in Hobbiton.

I dont know, I dont had any new problems, fontforge segfaults sometimes for me with the older version too. But not much that make its unusable.
You tried debugging it? Anything on the backtrace?
EDIT: I'm using a self compiled fontforge, with bytecode, but I dont think this make any difference.
