Firefox problem with compiz
hi, i installed compiz fusion following the wiki guide. i have windows borders and almost everything works fine.
my problem is with firefox, when i select a text it gets selected (i can see it on my scren as selected), but when i do it again the text gets selected (i can ctrl c and paste it on gedit) but it doesnt show as selected on firefox.
when i enter text on firefox it takes a while to show up (no cpu usage spike, just lag)
im using the firefox workaround on the plugins
programs like gedit or netbeans work fine, until now im only having this problem with firefox.
im not sure what should i attach but here is my xorg.conf

edit:
when i click on the tittle bar i can see the selected text, or the typed text immediatly, its like the window is frozen, but allows scrolling
scroll is smooth, but combobox and drop down menu are also bugged
on kde4 the glitch goes away when i disable compositing

I am having the same problem. Just installed compiz and found that firefox has some problems rendering its menus and taking input in text boxes such as the address bar and google search bar. I could not type in this forum's reply box either but everything works fine in chromium. I enabled the "Firefox menu fix" workaround as well but no change.
Firefox works fine if I revert to metacity.

Got same problem here, hopely someone will share the solution.. it seems only firefox that affected because other gnome apps is still fine (including Epiphany). Maybe something related to firefox's gui engine?

Hi,
exactly the same problem with thunderbird (3.1).
Hopefully someone knows how to fix this...

Did you tried to "Enable the Workarounds plugin in ccsm, and check the box for Force synchronization between X and GLX" ?
Help me to improve ssh-rdp !
Retroarch User? Try my koko-aio shader !

Have you started compiz & firefox from a terminal and checked for error messages? Firefox and thunderbird work fine with compiz here, but I am on gnome - are you are all running KDE?
Offline
run compiz with --indirect-rendering
there are issues with the new dri drivers. i thought the problem was intel-related, it appears to be more widespread.

Thanks for reply but did not work.
Running the latest gnome (2.30) here.

Terminal output for fusion-icon:
* Detected Session: gnome
* Searching for installed applications...
* Using the GTK Interface
* Metacity is already running
* Setting window manager to Compiz
... executing: compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp
WARNING: Application calling GLX 1.3 function "glXCreatePixmap" when GLX 1.3 is not supported! This is an application bug!
There was no output (and therefore no messages?) for firefox.
run compiz with --indirect-rendering
No change with this.

I have to guess that it is the latest set of updates that fixed this since firefox and eclipse seem to be working for me again
Hope the rest of you are having similar luck.
