entire X windows doesn't have transparency

i'm using the vesa driver.

nothing related to transparency works.  whenever there is something that should be transparent, it is black instead.

for example, the AMSN tray icon is surrounded by black because it's got transparent edges.  all the KDE cursors flash black because it doesn't go transparent.  xine's player has black all around it.

any ideas?  thanks.

Re: entire X windows doesn't have transparency

you need to load "extmod" in the Modules section of your xorg.conf

and you don't mean transparency - that is the ability to see through something.... your issue is "non rectangular windows" aren't rendering right...

you're missing the SHAPE extension to X... part of extmod
