Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

Hello,
I hope this is also the right forum for the gnome-unstable repository.
Are there any plans, when Gnome 2.31 comes to gnome-unstable. Since Thursday 10th Gnome 2.31.3 is released and before the release of Gnome 2.30 there was Gnome 2.29 in the gnome-unstable repo.

Thanks in advance

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

GTK 3.0 is planned to get included in GNOME 2.31.4. I'm not planning to package anything before most modules have been converted to that.

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

That will quite be a lot of fun. Im recieving all the Messages via RSS and so on and it seems that some developer are too lazy to get rid of deprecated GTK+ stuff in there modules

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

the KDE3-->KDE4 and qt3-->qt4 migration even took years, there's still no k3b stable, and kaffeine lated 2-3 years, and ark is still not ready, they always skip the improvements for ark in the feature plan. The KDE 4.3 (a.k.a. "one and a half year later) was the first version which you could almost use without qt3.

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

Hi everybody,

I was just wondering if there is any plan to build the gnome 2.31.92 RC coming out today. I would be willing to lend some Intel i5 cpu time, but I have no idea where to start to compile something that big. I don't want this to look like a build request, just plain curiosity (feel free to insult me if I wasn't meant to post this!)

Cheers,
Alessandro

When its ready, JGC or someone will tell us. Subscribe to [arch-general] and [arch-dev-public], that would probably receive the news first.

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

I found several issues now

1) gnome-applets needs as dependency python-gnomeapplet

2) sound juicer can't start 'cause

sound-juicer: error while loading shared libraries: libbrasero-media.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

and brasero package has no file like this

3) empathy can't edit accounts

(empathy-accounts:32596): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "svg",

(empathy-accounts:32596): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "svg",

(empathy-accounts:32600): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "svg",

(empathy-accounts:32600): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "svg",

so I am not sure if working fine is good sentence smile

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

1) gnome-applets 2.32 has an optional dependency python-gnomeapplet only if you use invest-applet
2) not updated, is on todo
3) looking at the warnings, you don't have librsvg 2.32.0 or it needs a reinstall

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

[gnome-unstable] works well for me with [testing]
I have only one problem with xiphos:

$ xiphos
xiphos: error while loading shared libraries: libgtkhtml-editor.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I'm still waiting for gnome 2.32 to become complete upstream, epiphany 2.32 is missing and possibly other packages too. He who waits, wins big_smile

Re: Gnome 2.31 in gnome-unstable

@Cosmin that is in community and you are using a repo which is not public tongue. we will need to rebuilding some packages from other repos once it hits testing.

@combuster they didn't released any 2.32.

@ahioros i wish you say which package version.
