Volume control for both Master and Headphones

Just finished installing Arch on a Dell Latitude D610 with Gnome. How can I make the volume applet adjust both the Master and Headphones volume at the same time or at least the PCM volume instead? Currently only the Master volume is affected and I need the applet to adjust the headphones volume too. I tried right clicking the volume applet and selecting "Preferences" to change the "device and track to control" to PCM but it doesn't work. Thanks!

Re: Volume control for both Master and Headphones

Well what I did was install pulse audio along with gnome-media-pulse, gave me much better control over volume, it shows in the notification area much like network manager and you can adjust application volumes as well. I love it  tongue
instruction on how to setup gnome applet and pulse audio on Arch wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio
