Grub installation issues

I'm having some issues with installing Grub on my system, it has one 2 TB HDD installed it in, during the process I am seeing three different issues some worse than others.

The first issue is when the Arch installer is asking where I want to install Grub it lists my Hard drive twice so the list goes like this:

/dev/sda
/dev/sda
/dev/sda1 (boot)
/dev/sda2 (swap)
/dev/sda5 (root)
/dev/sda6 (home)
/dev/sda7

After selecting one of the two /dev/sda options I get two more errors (doesn't matter which one I pick I get the same error):

The first is it can't find the stage1 files needed by Grub, these should be there because pacman reported no errors during install, then the killer is the grub 18 error I get.

Seeing this makes me wonder if Grub has some like of disk size limitation or something else that could be causing this, if anyone can help point me in the right direction or has seen this before please help.
