Hello all,
I have a reasonably fresh install of Arch with KDEMod with all packages up to date. I decided to setup my e-mail yesterday as things seem to be running stable. I clicked on Kmail but nothing happened! When typing 'kmail' from the Konsole I get an error message saying one of my lib packages (really sorry at work so can't remember its name) is the wrong ELF class - 32.
After some searching I discovered the problem is I'm running a x86-64 install and this is a 32 bit package.
I checked my pacman config and mirrorlists and they all point to x86-64 repos so I'm confused as to how I picked up this 32 bit lib. !
Doing a pacman -Sy {packagename} updates the package but it still remains as a 32 bit version.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I assume I need to somehow manually remove the package and reinstall it outside of pacman ?
Many thanks for your time
PS. I will post the full error message tonight for future refrence
Edit title: added: (libindicate-qt.so.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32)

Try removing it, pacman -Q | grep kmail; pacman -R kmail-package-name (most likely kdepim-kmail)
Then install the version from here: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra … pim-kmail/

Hello,
Thanks for your response FuKaS. I had no problem removing the package but trying to re-install it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure how to satisfy these dependencies or if I should while running kdemod as opposed to regular kde?
[mullins@sidcup Arch]$ sudo pacman -S kdepim-kmail

I did download the kdemod package from the Charkra website (ensuring I chose x86-64) version but still got the ELF error.

Can anyone assist with this? Maybe this is something for the KDEMod forum? I'm not sure. Any assistance appreciated as a system without KMail isn't much use to me unfortantely.

Yes, that is the correct forum for your question.
Alternatively, you could migrate to Arch's KDE packages.
