EeeBox B207 two problems after full upgrade

I know. I should have read the small print before I agreed to everything a pacman -Syu does but here we are.

1) KEYMAP=de_CH-latin1 in rc.conf is ignored, the system defaults to US
2) screen driver fails alternate consoles (Ctrl+ALt+Fx)
3) screen refreshes seem slow ( a visible wipe for a screen redraw )


I assume 2 and 3 are related. What can I search what goes wrong?

Re: EeeBox B207 two problems after full upgrade

an additional reboot restored the situation, at least for the keyboard.
Unfortunately there is no open source solution for the amd radeon graphic adapter neither xf86-video-ati nor xf86-video-radeonhd work on the readon hd 3400.

Thanks to Vi0l0 there is an excellent wrapper for the AMD closed source driver.

To "repair" what was overwritten on the graphic driver radeon hd 3400 do this:

1) yaourt catalyst, select the first suggestion (as per now july 10 2010 this is 10.6-3 driver)
2) install the driver and run ati-config -initial
3) ad nomodeset to /boor/grub/menu.lst
4) check if fglrx is still in /etc/rc.conf MODULES  list.
