Screen not refreshing fast enough

I don't know if this is the right forum. I tried to find a solution online but I don't even know the keywords to search for.

I am having a weird problem since last 3 days or so.

The computer screen it seems is not refreshing itself fast enough. I mean to say that I might be writing something, but I would not see the new characters appear till a long time. The cursor looks like it is a trail of cursors and for example if I am in firefox and switch tabs, it takes seconds for the new tab to to become visible though the tab has been changed.

I have no idea why this is happening or what package is responsible for this behavior. Could some one give me a solution or some pointers regarding this? Thanks a lot!

Re: Screen not refreshing fast enough

I had a similar problem with trailing windows, which was solved by running xcompmgr (a composite window manager). You can find the package on the Arch repo.

That's all I can think of until you post your computer specs and xorg.conf

Good luck
