[SOLVED] Broke Xorg trying to downgrade?

Trying to install:  Xorg 1.8
Using: Pacman 3.4.0

It seems I broke something preventing xorg from installing.  I had installed xorg, and tried to start X (using xinit, as always, with xorg 1.8) and I had forgotten to reinstall my graphics driver.  The whole computer went down (near as I can tell, couldn't switch between terminals to kill anything), so I did a hard reset.

I log back in, try to xinit again, and the terminal gives the output of "/usr/bin/xini: was unable to execute file", or near it (no error messages, just this).  I try to re-install xorg (pacman -S xorg), and get a large amount of errors saying that there are still files in, I'm guessing, every directory Xorg has a file in (xpm files near the bottom, couldn't check the whole list).

I think if I run pacman -Rsn xorg, I'll be able to install again after cleaning up the files(which I think corrupted).  I'm sure I can clean out the bad files in /usr/bin without much hassle.  I'm not sure where to proceed, however.  Should I remove all WM/DEs on my system to prevent problems?  Any tips would be appreciated.

EDIT:  Don't mind me, yet another PEBKAC error.  Didn't check man pages, to know to force install.
