Pacman 3.4

Eureka!

Pacman 3.4 released to [core], and now features resolution to FS #15581:

can upgrade the system and install a new package using
                "pacman -Syu <pkg>" (FS#15581)

Refer to old thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=89328&p=1
Many other fixes and improvements. Thanks devs.
Enjoy.

Re: Pacman 3.4

Another wonderful feature is that "pacman -U pkgname" resolves it's dependencies automatically. Very helpful for local installs. smile

Re: Pacman 3.4

Anyone volunteers to go through the wiki and replace rogue 'pacman -Sy <pkg>' with 'pacman -Syu <pkg>'? =p

Re: Pacman 3.4

Just a fyi, I had to:

pacman -R pacman-color
pacman -S pacman
yaourt -S pacman-color

There's no doubt a simpler way, but that's how I got around the loop.

Re: Pacman 3.4

An unmentioned new feature is to use "su" in makepkg if sudo is not there, so non-sudo users can use the -s, -r, and -i flags.

I remember this going in very well, since I wrote it big_smile
