[SOLVED] - Can't boot after upgrade

I recently upgraded my system. The kernel was upgraded to 2.6.34. There were no errors or warnings regarding the kernel during the upgrade. After restarting the system I get the following errors:

Waiting 10 secs for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/eff91b0b-bfb3-455e-b2d3-22792203
Error: Unable to determine major/minor number of root device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/eff91b0b-bfb3-455e-b2d3-22792203'
You are being dropped to recovery shell

I can boot into the system with the fallback image.

PS:  I also got my motherboard, fan & heatsink pipes changed in my laptop due to some overheating problem which caused my windows XP installation to crash.

Re: [SOLVED] - Can't boot after upgrade

I managed to solve this by regenerating the initramfs image using mkinitcpio
