[GNOME]+Compiz. How to enable transparency without losing exitBtn?

Hi, I've been trying for the past few days to get transperancy to work but with no luck. I try to enable the desktop cube, opacity and wobbly windows but none of it works. Maybe I'm doing somthing wrong. sad

this is what I mean:
Screenshot-1.png

That is the gnome-terminal with full transparency and yet it just tries to mimic the desktop background and not what I want.

Here is another example:

Screenshot.png

the awn is suppose to be 3d and it's not. Also it has the 3d-spotline turn affect and it's not workoing aswell

If all you want is transparency, then remove compiz and go to the gconf editor, then enable apps > metacity > general > compositing_manager.

Personally, I'd rather be back in Hobbiton.

Well yup you were right about the transparency it fixed the gnome-terminal and awn but I also add transparency to my gnome panel and it didn't fix that.

If I didn't know better I would say that compiz isn't even running. If what Anikom suggested worked then metacity is still the manager. You need to select compiz from the fusion-icon menu.

Right click on the fusion-icon icon and there is an option to change the window manager.

Re: [GNOME]+Compiz. How to enable transparency without losing exitBtn?

Whenever I let compiz be my default WM I lose the exit, minimize.. etc bottons and the overall performance goes down.

Screenshot-1-1.png

I have ubuntu installed aswell with compiz completely enabled with cube effects, transparency and everything else, but I don't get as many problems... after some tinkering this is what I have so far:

Screenshot-2.png

I know it's not much butI just stuck with metacity as my WM and will postpone Compiz for a while...

Also I did take the time to read the compiz wiki mentioned for the second time. I edited my xorg.conf file just like it said and nothing, I even disabled the check refresh rate in the compiz general settings and switch to manual but no luck.

Do you have emerald components installed? Try emerald --replace
