Videos run at double speed when not in fullscreen

Weirdest thing, since the latest update.

Videos run at the wrong speed in
Mplayer: about double or triple the normal speed / changing playback speed in Mplayer has no effect
VLC:        a bit slower than normal, with sound stuttering / Sound works fine when the video is not visible but overlayed by another window
Youtube: in firefox: double or trible the normal speed.

HOWEVER: Videos play normally in Mplayer, VLC, and Youtube, when I run them in fullscreen (except high-def mkv's, which still run too fast).

Mplayer gives the output:

************************************************
**** Your system is too SLOW to play this! ****
************************************************

CPU goes up to about 40% when playing normally, but drops to about 3-6% when switching to fullscreen. Seems kind of counter-intuitive to me.

VLC doesn't give any form of error output.

Everything works fine with gl / gl2 video output, but I'd like to know what's causing it.

Where/how can I get more informative output from VLC and/or mplayer?
Anybody any idea?

Re: Videos run at double speed when not in fullscreen

I have same problem.
After recent full system update I've got a few issues, but i've solved all of them except that double speed video problem.

Flash audio works fine in firefox and chromium
Flash video works fine in firefox. In chromium it has double/triple speed when NOT in fullscreen. In fullscreen it's fine.
Vlc/mplayer - video plays normally in fullscreen. When it not in fullscreen video plays normally, but sound seems to has a double speed so it's bumble.

Re: Videos run at double speed when not in fullscreen

I think this is a problem with Linux flash in general. I have had slow fullscreen across many different distros, on both x86 and x86_64 architechures, and using many different window managers.

Surprisingly though, FreeBSD had better preformance with fullscreen flash than linux yikes
