/sbin/ not in the path variable

I just managed to install slim-plus, and after it starting Xfce a few times I got it to work with the WM of my choice.
However, when I wanted to reboot to check if everything was working ok, bash told me that it couldn't find shutdown.
I found out that it's still in the /sbin/ dir, but it seems like the /sbin/ dir is not in the path environment variable anymore (I don't really know if it's called environments variables in Linux, but you get what I mean)

Any thoughts on what might have caused this, and how I get it working again?

Re: /sbin/ not in the path variable

Ah, it's because I used sh rather than bash to invoke xinitrc

Re: /sbin/ not in the path variable

I have a similar problem in that /sbin is no longer in my path. I'm also using slim.

The problem is that i can't find out where my path is set. I've looked /etc/profile but that path doesn't match mine.

The defaultpath set in my slim.conf seems to match the path I have. Is that where the path is set?

PLEASE read and try to FIX/FILE BUGS instead of assuming other have/will.
