Hi
Net-tools package has been for a while now deprecated, recently it was removed hostname from it too. Package wicd still depends on net-tools. I am asking if this is so because wicd can not function without net-tools? If wicd can function without it which package should be used instead. Maybe inetutils?

Yes, hostname is now included in inetutils.

Does that mean that i can change net-tools for inetutils in wicd dependencies' list? And how? Because i have pulled down wicd from ABS and replace net-tools for inetutils and didn't work.

I haven't tried it but https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/26385 would lead me to think that's how you should do it.
Can you post your comments there?

For now i can not make wicd work with inetutils. I guess it should be patched or somethinh but that is beyond my knowledge, temporarily. If i will gain any progress i will report. Thanks for iniciative!
