I have no idea what's wrong there. It looks like it's DBUS, but I'm not sure myself. I've waited a few days for new updates of Gnome3.2, but so far nothing's changed on my end.
If it helps, this is my pacman -Qm

Hi, check your ~/.xsession-errors log next time you try to log into gnome. It may be saying something about libltdl.so.7. If so, reinstalling libltdl may help.
In anycase, posting that information here would likely help diagnose the problem. To do so, just crtl+alt+f2, log in as you, then...
cp ~/.xsession-errors ~/.xsession-errors.bak
and then you'd be able to copy/paste that here from any other environment.

Hi mythus,
Strangely, I couldn't find any .xsession-errors file in my home folder now. Is there a flag I should turn on, if I run startx from the console?
In addition, I probably should explain what I mean by not being able to start Gnome3.2. Here are my symptoms:
- Upon startup, the screen only shows the default login background and the mouse cursor. The cursor is still responsive, but nothing else is showing up.
- Sometimes, an error message pops up, saying that the Account Manager couldn't be contacted. The error box only has one button, which is unresponsive to the mouse.
Oh and, I also tried reinstalling libltdl, without any luck . It still won't start...
Offline
You'd only see/get the .xsession-error logs when you are in GNOME so to speak. Despite nothing is loading up, in that screen you can switch to another terminal via crtl+alt+f2 (for example), and then log in as your username and run that cp script. Then, reboot, log into a working environment, and access your copied file.
Still, it is likely it is the libltdl.so.7 error as it sounds like what happened to me. Checking the xsession-errors will let you know for sure, and you can reinstall libtdl via a simple pacman -S libtdl, which should fix things for you, if that is the culprit.

I did try logging in Gnome. I tried doing startx from the console, and then setting runlevel to 5 from /etc/inittab. I still don't see any .xsession-errors .
Like I said before, I tried reinstalling libltdl and it still doesn't work.
This is really pulling my hair out :s. If everything fails, do you think removing and reinstalling Gnome would help?

I imagine that you can still get your xsession-errors when running from startx, by doing as I stated before. However I do note that GNOME3 is built to work best when running with GDM instead of startx method. Have you tried with GDM?
It would be greatly more helpful to get the logs from xsession-errors. Without it, this is more or less a guessing game. You could of course try reinstalling GNOME, but I am doubtful that it will work for you.
Have you tried making a new user and logging in from that? Or removing your various files concerning gconf, dconf and the like? Also are all of your files up-to-date using up-to-date repositories and mirrors? There are a lot of varibles here on what could be going on, but without all of the error logs it becomes harder to figure out.
I suggest trying to get your xsession-errors log, and all other type error logs and putting them in paste-bin, and linking them here. The more info, the better.

mythus, how do I try out GDM from the console? As I've mentioned before, I have also tried setting runlevel to 5 so that the system boots directly to X. However, this also did not generate any xsession errors file. Is it possible that the problem lies with my GDM then?
The package I have now was last updated on Friday last week. I have been unable to upgrade again since then due to problems with my internet connection (I'm typing this from another OS). Before that, I've tried removing dconf, gconf, all to no avail. I also tried downgrading telepathy-glib and I could log in, although still in fallback mode. This isn't always reproducible though, and it was more than a week ago, so I can't say if it's (entirely) because of telepathy-glib.
As for the times when I can log in to fallback mode, I did save the .xsession-errors file. Here it is:
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Setup done, will execute: /usr/bin/ssh-agent -- gnome-session

Since that time, I have made several changes to my system that renders some of the error messages unapplicable to my current condition. For example, there you can still see some error messages regarding the extensions. But now, I've removed all extensions from my systems, so I didn't put it in the first place when started this thread. I do believe that the underlying cause that's preventing me to boot properly into Gnome is still unresolved, so maybe you can still see some useful information.

bump.
Is there anyone that can help me? If not fixing it, probably on how I should do a clean Gnome reinstall, since I'm seriously considering this now..

have you tried to delete /home/bow/.config/autostart/dropbox.desktop ? i heard on irc that dropbox was his problem
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Hi wonder,
I haven't tried that one before. Here's what I did just now (currently at runlevel 3, tty1):
- I move dropbox.desktop to my ~
- I did startx &>error.log, and the same error remains (screen lock, but mouse still ok)
- CTRL-C on tty1, checked the log. As expected, the bit about dropbox.desktop disappears but the other messages remain.
- Decided should try startx &>error.log again, and see if anything changes.
- And it did. I'm now in Gnome, but in the fallback mode. There was an error message showing up, saying something is wrong still.
Here's the latest error.log, in case it could be useful:
