Hello,
I have a hard time setting up Arch Linux with correct power management. Most software, guides, etc. assume you want to disable power management when you are docked. I want to have the most power conserving state regardless of whether I'm on AC or not (actually, I'm setting a Laptop and a Desktop). Then there's the issue that some software resets dirty_writeback_centisecs and I couldn't figure out which one. I'm currently trying to set up stuff with /etc/rc.local, but some settings don't have any effect, some are lost after suspend.
What software is doing stuff that I didn't tell it to do?
What is your best practices for power managment?
Thanks,
CC

I use laptop-mode-tools. It allows you to have a set up with AC the same as battery (not by default, but that can be changed). I believe the wiki for it discusses some of the settings, and the files for manipulating it are well documented as well.
I laugh, yet the joke is on me
