Ladish - does anyone actually have it working in Arch? [SOLVED]

Hi everyone,

I am curious if any archer is actually using Ladish, and maybe has some tips for getting it working properly.  I have used ladish in the past, just not in Archlinux. Not one of the packages in AUR (relating to Ladish) provides a working installation. I have tried all packages, and have also tried the ladish instructions (from the website, which didn't work either).

AUR;

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php? … _Search=Go

Ladish website;

http://ladish.org/wiki/installing_on_archlinux

I have tried ladish-git, ladish-0.3-1, i am using jack2-ladish but have also tried using jack-dbus and also tried compiling jackd/jackdbus myself.   At first, even laditray wouldn't work properly, but now it does (after some messing around). However, upon starting a 'studio' ladish fails, i've went through all of the logs and still don't know how to fix it.

Currently i am using ladish-git + jack2-ladish - one would think these two would work together, but apparently not :\

jackdbus log;

on Sep  5 13:34:36 2011: port created: Midi-Through:midi/playback_1
Mon Sep  5 13:34:36 2011: port created: Midi-Through:midi/capture_1
Mon Sep  5 13:34:41 2011: [1m[31mERROR: JackProcessSync::LockedTimedWait error usec = 5000000 err = Connection timed out[0m
Mon Sep  5 13:34:41 2011: [1m[31mERROR: Driver is not running[0m
Mon Sep  5 13:34:41 2011: [1m[31mERROR: Cannot open client name = dbusapi[0m
Mon Sep  5 13:34:41 2011: [1m[31mERROR: failed to create dbusapi jack client[0m

this seems to be the only error. Usually, this error you would get if you didn't have a working version of jack using jackdbus, but i have a working version - in fact, whether it be a binary package for arch, source or even AUR - i have tried them all.

this error doesn't say anything wink awesome.

The packages in AUR seem broken, since they do not provide a working version of Ladish after installation, at all.

Anyway, if anyone knows how to fix this, or can provide good instructions on how they got Ladish working under Archlinux that would be great.

Re: Ladish - does anyone actually have it working in Arch? [SOLVED]

You can come on to #archaudio and ask. I think a couple of the guys are Ladish users, especially FalkTX. I think you can even start right away by adding the KXStudio repos:

http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/KXStudi … #ArchLinux

I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

Ya, i have those repos enabled. I got Ladish working properly, a week or so, ago.  My integrated card just doesn't play nice with Ladish. But it's not a big deal as i am using a different audio device most of the time anyway. it's funny though, all of my other sound cards work fine. weird.

I have Ladish-git (from AUR) working perfectly, with most of other other KxStudio, specific apps, too (like claudia, catia, etc.)

maybe i'll pop into the irc sometime anyway wink
