Is this for Archlinux as server? http://www.archserver.org/

Are we using Archlinux Desktop version only? (while back using REDHAT  then to CentOS as server and Fedora was desktop finally. Is this theory same for Archlinux too? Or REDHAT made us think like it)

In this site its saying such is it also from Archlinux? Can some expert give there advise on this why i can not simply use this as a Server platform?  ( http://releng.archlinux.org/isos/2011.0 … x86_64.iso )

OR for server i must use those? e.g: http://www.archserver.org/

Note: I want to take away my CentOS 6.0 and other servers and put Archlinux what i should actually do?

you can do from arch whatever you like, a desktop distribution, a server distribution

archserver is a dead fork

Like Wonder says, Arch is what you make it.

I've used Arch for several servers with no issues whatsoever. Install the base and the packages you need, set your configs and you're good to go. Whatever you are serving on CentOS can be equally well served using Arch. You don't need to use anything special to use Arch as a server.

http://www.archserver.org/index.php?page=about give you some info about what the aims were, but that project is dead not, so this page is out f date.

ArchServer won't be getting any updates so I don't think you should use it.

Re: Is this for Archlinux as server? http://www.archserver.org/

Well, to be honest, i have too much work always, with small deadlines mostly. After using ArchLinux for more then a week, i discovered that this is the Box i should spend my valuable time. Which allows my own freedom, not pretend to hide like other distro does.

I am not a senior developer, always learning from faults, so i want to experiment always, but always with CentOS/Fedora i just cant do what i wanted to do, dreaming to do.

So far, I am using 3 Amazon instance + 5 DELL R310 servers with CentOS 5.4 to 6.0, and 100% Fedora user.

If i do not change them now or move 100% to Archlinux now. I wont be able to learn more Archlinux as i am putting more time on RedHat system, and the more i use i am getting kind of stuck with it.

So, taking a final step and forcing myself, lets do it. I wish you guys have more experience then me, if this is a smart move would be. The reason why i was desperately asking to get the final confidence.

Thank you very much.

I forgot to post it earlier: ArchServer is not dead.
Unfortunately they don't have any stable release yet, so I think sticking with stock Arch is best.

If you have to ask whether Arch can be used on a production server, then the answer is no...
