No display in kernel 2.6.12

Display terminates during boot-up at udev step after upgrade to new kernel.

Activity indicated on hdd but no display results( assuming the boot is continuing).

Any help for this problem?

Re: No display in kernel 2.6.12

You might need to reinstall your video driver after updating your kernel.  I always have to reinstall the nVidia drivers.

Re: No display in kernel 2.6.12

the problem is that the newest kernel doesn't detect my nvidia 2 GT card, so drivers can't be installed. Suggestions?

Maybe this is what you are looking for: nvidia-legacy package.

Re: No display in kernel 2.6.12

My video driver has always worked with kernel upgrades in the past but fails to continue display after the boot-up step involved with udev.

I have an ATI 8500LE video card without accel driver.

I am using KNOPPIX  LIVE DVD 4.0 to address the forum.

Re: No display in kernel 2.6.12

discovered that my system was not upgraded correctly due to lilo mixup.

I would appreciate the change necessary to lilo when upgrading to the 2.6.12 kernel.

I am getting forgetful in my eighty years.

I seem not to have the right vmlinuz call out in lilo since my query....uname -r...lists 2.6.10 as the running system.

My ID for vmlinuz is....vmlinuz26.
