[SOLVED] Gnome 3.2 Document, Contacts and file preview Problems

Hi, I just enabled the testing the community testing repos today. I updated and I got a huge list of updates and pacman downloaded them. However while checking for file conflicts it said locale.sh was found in /etc/profile.d/ folder and hence it did not install anything. However, I moved the locale.sh folder to my home folder and then proceeded with the installation. It all went smooth. I restarted and was presented with the new login screen. I login and find the new user menu, hot plugs notifications working.

However, Gnome-Documents and Gnome-Contacts are missing. I searching in the application overview but couldn't find it. Also the live preview in nautilus does not work with the keyboard shortcut 'spacebar'. Does anybody have this problem and how to solve this?

Reading through my pacman log file, I see the following error messages during the installation.

[2011-09-30 11:53] upgraded at-spi2-core (2.0.2-1 -> 2.2.0-1)
[2011-09-30 11:53] warning: undefined reference to <schema id='org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.at'/>
[2011-09-30 11:53] upgraded dconf (0.8.0-1 -> 0.10.0-1)
[2011-09-30 11:53] warning: undefined reference to <schema id='org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.at'/>
[2011-09-30 11:53] installed colord (0.1.12-2)
[2011-09-30 11:53] warning: undefined reference to <schema id='org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.at'/>
[2011-09-30 11:53] upgraded gtk3 (3.0.12-1 -> 3.2.0-1)
[2011-09-30 11:53] installed libtracker-sparql (0.12.3-1)
[2011-09-30 11:53] warning: undefined reference to <schema id='org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.at'/>

Also I do not see anywhere in the log where it says it installed gnome-documents and gnome-contacts.

My system specs are
Dell Inspiron 1525
Intel Core 2 Duo 2

Let me know if any other info is needed.

the warnings are fine. once you update everything the reference to that schema is gone and you should be fine

Yes, but what if you did not install the gnome-extra metapackage earlier? Since these are new applications, or am I wrong?

I did not cherry pick..besides I did a sudo pacman -Syu just now and it says there are no packages to be upgraded. It still doesn't show gnome-documents, contacts and sushi. Should I install them manually then like bartusdavid suggested?

Actually that could be the problem. Since when I installed arch 5 months ago and then installed gnome I manually installed applications in the gnome-extra metapackage. I did not install all of them.

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome 3.2 Document, Contacts and file preview Problems

we don't use metapackages for gnome. gnome and gnome-extra are groups of packages.

is your choice to install what packages you want from gnome-extra, a.k.a the bloat smile

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome 3.2 Document, Contacts and file preview Problems

just for my own curiosity,  why do you prefer to install everything from gnome-extra?

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome 3.2 Document, Contacts and file preview Problems

No just for now...since I installed stuff manually from gnome-extra in Gnome 3.0, I did not get gnome-documents, contacts and sushi..So now I'll start removing stuff that I do not need like games and ekiga etc.

That's why I suggested to install only gnome-documents, gnome-contacts and sushi wink

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome 3.2 Document, Contacts and file preview Problems

What bartusdavid just said is correct because then for every update all the packages you didn't want will be back.

... I also got those errors:
"warning: undefined reference to <schema id='org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.at'/>"

So do I just ignore them?

Re: [SOLVED] Gnome 3.2 Document, Contacts and file preview Problems

@trusktr the warning is perfectly normally. once gsettings-desktop-schemas is updated, the reference to that schema id is lost.
