I've pacman -Syu'd and my kernel was updated. But I haven't had any problems with the new kernel. What gives? 8)

Well, I'll trump your lack of problems with my experience of installing Dibble's cko patched kernel and then qwerty's ati-drivers.
All worked effortlessly and without a hitch (yet...)

Really? You should try gensplash too then - bet that works without a hitch too!

I guess I'll try this when I get home. Something's gotta break if I keep pushing enough. probably my heart...

I was wondering this too - there's alot of "oh noes! my network won't start" type things with this kernel upgrade... but everything worked perfectly for me... in fact when I got home I realised I had to update the ndiswrapper package, so I grabbed the source, Syu'd, rebooted, built+probed and I was up and running in like 3 minutes... no problems at all.... *shrug*
maybe I should drop my laptop down the stairs... then I'll have something to fix

Yeah, all seems to work okay for me too, except for those "mrtt: type mismatch" messages I'm getting at system boot ( posted about it here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=13640 ).
The network, cdroms, dvds, usb, and all that seems to work, at least so far... 8)

I haven't had any problems either. I custom built it though, just changed some settings in the menu, thats all....
