Hi,
There's a weird bug happening on my system. Each time I kill X (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) or restart gdm, it hangs, showing only black screen and a weird artifact - some letter, at the bottom of the screen. I can't switch tty, I can't go back to X. It just stays like that and the monitors turn off after 2-3 minutes. The only option is to hard-reset. There's nothing in the logs about that.
My setup is dual-head monitor, NVidia GT440 (latest blob from repos), Xorg 1.11. No [testing] repo.
Cheers and thanks upfront.

I might have the same problem: Everytime I kill X and try to start it again with startx or xinit it freezes, the mouse and keyboard become completely unresponsive (no num-lock light etc.). /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old is empty after a reboot. I only have a single monitor, but I'm using the same Graphics-card. I tried the nvidia-drivers from the official arch-repo, nvidia-beta-drivers from the AUR and the drivers from nvidia.com. Still no luck, but the nouveau drivers work fine in this case.

I have a similar problem. It just doesn't happen every time I restart GDM and I am using x2 GTX 460 on a single monitor (SLI disabled due to problems with gnome-shell). Running the latest drivers from repositories, I might try with nouveau later (always used the official drivers).

Bump. Still not resolved. Tried everything. Anyone have an idea what might be the reason for this bug? Tried nouveau, it works. NV blob, doesnt.
