I had just started reading his book "C Programming Language", very sad about this.

I think it's a shame that his death is overshadowed by Steve Jobs when Ritchie did more for computing. Nonetheless, they were both influential men.
I've been reading through the K&R, and it's explained things in a way that's thorough without being dense. I appreciate all he's contributed to computers.
