Rolling back Network Configuration..

I have an adsl connection.
During installation, and upto now I used a router, so the connection was automatic.

I just connected the modem directly now, and used pppoe-setup.
After that pppoe-start showed "connected" but the connection wasn't there. pings, both by name and ip failed.

Now, after rebooting, even the router connection doesn't work.
What do I need to change/delete to make to have it not use a failed pppoe connection, but the automatic way?

Re: Rolling back Network Configuration..

You're a bit short on detail there, but my guess is a normal dhcp configuration should work. There's an example in rc.conf, read the wiki's Network page for more details.

No, normal DHCP didn't work..... that was the point of asking. big_smile

Anyway, I managed to get the adsl connection working; so crysis averted for now.
But, still can't find a way to set up lan or anything that is supposed to happen somewhat 'naturally'...(by that I mean.. say.. a working ssh connection to my laptop..or plain samba shares) ...

This is Arch. Nothing happens "naturally". It's up to you to read the documentation and set things up the way you want them.

Well, It happened 'naturally' before I set the pppoe connection up and broke after that.
That was the reason I asked what changed, point me to a documentation in which I can find that..
(I couldn't find one....after extensively reading the commented portions of the config files...and some man pages)

Re: Rolling back Network Configuration..

Without any additional details, there is no way anyone here can know what changed. Post your rc.conf and/or other configs, relevant log extracts, etc and you might get better answers.
