Kernel hangs at "Triggering uevents"

I have an Arch install on an old HP workstation that works fine, however when i add my Promise FastTRAK S150 SX4 card it won't boot anymore.
It will hang at "triggering uevents".

When i used the noapic kernel command the system boots again but the kernel now complains about ehci_hcd being unable to grab IRQ11.
Is this a bad thing?

Cheers, Jochum

Re: Kernel hangs at "Triggering uevents"

I just figured out the IRQ11 error is a bad thing. At every boot the disabled device may vary, which sometimes mean my Compaq Smart Array controller (from which i boot) gets disabled.

Is there any way to fix this? Other distro's work fine with apic enabled why won't arch?

Made some progress:

I tested an install with a Megaraid 1600 controller and the Promise, now it boots fine.
Is this a hardware conflict?
