Can't connect via SSL with offlineimap

I'm trying to set up offlineimap, which went fine for my gmail account but I can't get it to connect via SSL to my other account. The server uses the standard port 993 for IMAPS connections, and I can connect without a problem using, for example, Evolution using that port. Just for completeness, I also did a portscan on the server to verify that port 993 was open for business.

The relevant part of my .offlineimaprc is:

[Repository RemoteHostName]

# And this is the remote repository. We only support IMAP or Gmail here.

type = IMAP

# Specify the remote hostname.
remotehost = imap.host.com

# Whether or not to use SSL.
ssl = yes

# Specify the port. If not specified, use a default port.
remoteport = 993

When I try to synchronize, I get the following warning:

Establishing connection to imap.host.com:993.
WARNING: Could not connect via SSL to host 'imap.host.com' and non-standard ssl p
ort 993 configured. Make sure you connect to the correct port.

Any ideas on what could be going wrong?
I don't think these apply in this case, but I do have libsasl and cyrus-sasl installed and up-to-date. Is there any other package I might be missing?
Thanks!
