can ivman replace acpid?

After having no problems what-so-ever with anything for a while, suddenly and mysteriously acpid turns out dead. It just quit working during a session and now the daemon won't be restarted (not even after reboot). This is the error message:

acpid: can't open /proc/acpi/event: Device or resource busy

hal registers acpi events though :? (btw, does anyone know how to make ivman take care of actions related to acpi events?)

EDIT: I found the solution to my problem in this (German) post https://forum.archlinux.de/?id=1;page=P … hread=4048, (solution is to start acpid daemon before dbus/hal) but I'm posting this anyway, mainly to inquire on whether ivman really can reaplce acpid or not, and if this is a good idea to attempt?
