[dilip@Zeus ~]$

i have changed mirrors 3 times but the problem remains. i had recently upgraded the mirrorlist yesterday, so i think the problem comes from that. i have successfully reinstalled it but it did not solve the problem.
is there a workaround? i dont want to download packages induvidually.

Re: pacman not connecting to internet [Solved]

Can you ping the mirror?
Do you use a proxy?
Can you show your pacman config and mirror files?

I can ping google but i cannot ping the mirror (or any mirror).

[dilip@Zeus ~]$ ping -c 3 ftp://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/
ping: unknown host ftp://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/
[dilip@Zeus ~]$ ping -c 3 http://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/
ping: unknown host http://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/

Two things.  First, you cannot ping the URL.  Don't try pinging http://whatever.com.  It won't work.
Second, mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in seems to have gone Tango-Uniform.

Re: pacman not connecting to internet [Solved]

[dilip@Zeus ~]$ wget ftp://mirror.rit.edu/archlinux/core/os/x86/core.db.tar.gz
--2011-10-28 10:31:03-- ftp://mirror.rit.edu/archlinux/core/os/x86/core.db.tar.gz
           => `core.db.tar.gz'
Resolving mirror.rit.edu... failed: Name or service not known.
wget: unable to resolve host address `mirror.rit.edu'
[dilip@Zeus ~]$

Correction: The address should have been ftp://mirror.rit.edu/archlinux/core/os/ … .db.tar.gz. But it doesnt make any difference.
