Nightingale - A Community Port of Songbird, mozilla based music player

I'm managing with the help of GeekShadow the community (primarily linux) port of Songbird, Nightingale. Nightingale came forth when Songbird dropped official linux support and nightly 64 bit builds. We're not just going to fork and rebrand Songbird, though. It's got plenty of issues, mainly with using outdated libs and it's own bundled libs, that we intend to fix.

Our github repo contains two branches. The master branch IS NOT READY and WILL NOT BUILD YET, as Mook and myself are upgrading the tree to be buildable against Gecko/Mozilla SDK version 6 and above, with the goal of having it use all system libraries on Linux, although the Mac and Windows versions will still need to have those packaged with the application.

The nightingale-1.8 branch, however, builds and is completely BSD/GPL/MPL compatible (the other one isn't quite ready yet, as I stated). It currently builds (partially?) under msys on Windows, and needs some work to build properly on Mac...but, it's stable and the Last.FM extension is built with the application, and it's already better than Songbird 1.8 in that it only uses 4 precompiled libraries.

We need developers who know C++, the Mozilla SDK, or those who enjoy building skins and extensions for Mozilla based platforms. You can join us at http://getnightingale.com/forum or talk to us on IRC on moznet, #nightingale ...
