Audio players and visualization ??

I'm tired of Totem and its dependencies (gnome) but it's visualization is decent. I'm looking for an alternative and I've tried audacious, rhythmbox and clementine and I've tried installing projectm and libgoom for vlc, mplayer/smplayer without success. Googlin has left me in swamp of unsolved threads and our own wiki and aur the same.

I'm ok with any gtk or qt app so long as I can install or use any visualization with them. Pulseaudio is not desirable for me. So I'm thankful for any suggestions.  (I have functional setups of smplayer/mplayer and vlc for video on my arch htpc with openbox and alsa audio)

I don't know of any good solutions for this, but perhaps this page can put you on the right track?

Re: Audio players and visualization ??

Tried xmms2 and some clients but it was not for me. For the time being I've settled for clementine (qt) which supports projectm visualizations. Not bad at all though clementine still has some bugs, at least together with openbox.
