Reading Battery Without Acpitool

The latest kernel broke acpitool, and that's the only way I knew of checking my battery. What should I use instead?

Well, apparently there is a patch for acpitool here, but I have not tried it:

You should have a /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0 directory now with the relevant info.

acpi works instead, at least for me: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/acpi/
