Problem with kernel after yaboot on PowerBook G4

Hi all,
i've installed correctly archlinux on my ppc G4, following the wiki and by logic. The command yabootconfig doesn't exist, and i used a manual configuration. When i reboot my machine, i have the following at the boot:
//pci@f4000000/ata-6@d/disk@0:3, /boot/vmlinux26" Unknown or corrupt filesystem

I have installed the kernel26, in terminal pacman -Syu, then pacman -S kernel26.
How can i fix?

Re: Problem with kernel after yaboot on PowerBook G4

Had a similar problem...
Yabootconfig was under /mnt/usr/sbin after the install and I had a boot partition.  In my case the "/boot/vmlinuz26" and image needed the "/boot" taken out of the config file for yaboot before the image was found and loaded.  Now if I could just convince the kernel image that my /dev/sda* files existed I'd really have something.

Re: Problem with kernel after yaboot on PowerBook G4

Probably just a typo, but shouldn't it be kernel26-pmac?

I was able to install Arch on a Powerbook G4, but i also had to install the kernel manually by chrooting
into the filesystem and do a pacman -S kernel26-pmac.

You could try to boot the Install Cd and mount your 'boot' partition from there.
Check the yaboot.conf: does the line 'boot=...' point to the correct partition?

Other ideas... mount your 'root' partition and check if there actually is a vmlinux26 file in the /boot directory and if it has a
reasonable size (i once had the problem that my vmlinux26 was 0 bytes).

Re: Problem with kernel after yaboot on PowerBook G4

update: After I installed the PATA drivers for the disks I was able to boot - got stuck on installing Xorg with a screen that "whites out" when it starts up without errors - after a bit it reboots.  This is on a clamshell G3.  Trying the G3 as a proof of concept before I try the G4 ibook.... Not going so well...
