boot script goes black after udev begins processing

Once I get past the grub2 screen, I begin to see the start messages as daemons get initialized.  Pretty recently, after I see the 'Triggering UDev uevents' the screen goes black.  I only see output again when runmode 5 gets initiated by /etc/inittab's setting.  If set runmode 3 in /etc/inittab nothing every gets displayed - screen is still black.

Here is the /var/log/boot - everything loads fine.  Thoughts?

Re: boot script goes black after udev begins processing

I have the same issue. However, my screen remains black. I login and "startx" (screen is still black, so all blindly). X starts, and everything is fine. So strange and annoying...

Re: boot script goes black after udev begins processing

Sounds like you two have the same graphics card. There's probably a kernel boot parameter needed for it.

You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me.

Re: boot script goes black after udev begins processing

Solved.

Added

vga=795 nomodeset

to end of the kernel parameters in

/boot/grub/menu.lst

.
