Google+ Arch Linux page

Hi all,
just to notify you about the new Arch Linux (official) page on Google+.

I had to add "official" because there was a couple of duplicates. This page will be managed only by DEVs and TUs to share information about the recent news, warnings, rebuilds and more...

Anyway, ATM Google allows only one administrator per page.

Will it mirror the news from the main page, info from the ML etc. or will there be some GooglePlus-exclusive info?

It will mirror the news and the post from the arch-dev-public or others MLs.

Because I'm not using Diaspora anymore (sorry, I love FLOSS, but diaspora needs some serious work before it's even an option for an alternative for Facebook or Google+).
Also, I just don't want n Arch Linux pages, neither a fan page to share screenshot/videos anything. That page is just another stream where share important and relevant news about Arch.

I'd prefer to have these news in a single place we control. Copying these information to G+, Twitter or any other social network is fine as long as it wont have exclusive information.

I don't understand what you mean here.

Aside from that, it seems hypocritical that a GNU/Linux distro would use proprietary networks to promote its product or community. Just my two cents.

Pierre: From what I can tell, this branching into the networks is only adding another way to get the same information found on the mailing lists or the front page, so the traditional ways of receiving news should still work.

We're not moving the Arch Linux website there, is just an Arch Linux page where you know we are the maintainers and not just someone as it's in Facebook/Twitter/*.

Ah, I see what you meant there now. I knew that was your goal, but that particular sentence was a bit weird.

I'd start a page, but I don't really see a point when people can just visit the main site. I just figured that if someone was going to start a page, it'd be on a more free network.

Regardless, my opinion doesn't really count since I'm not an important part of Arch Linux, so have fun.

Maybe maybe one day people will start using Diaspora, but I don't see sense in opening a Distro channel in a closed network, even if it's FOSS driven:

Although I'm still a google sceptic, google+ is open to the public at least...

EDIT:

Ignore that post, I wasn't fully aware of that pod stuff Diaspora has...

Like I said in the edit, I take back everything I said about Diaspora… it's actually very interesting. But, yes. That's a different topic.
