Re: gaim 0.73-1 package error

In the gaim 0.74-1 package is the same situation. I don't understand how can be in an package files belonging to the root directory?! I repackaged the gaim from /var/abs/network/gaim and the files are going to /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.2/i686-linux/ and not to the root directory! So the PKGBUILD is correct except that is missing the perl dependency. Probably this is causing the misterious bug. If the package builders are building their packages as a normal user (with the fakeroot) than never can happen to write in directories where you don't have permissions. And it's recomended to browse the .filelist file before somebody is releasing the package :-) In this way this kind of bug can be catchen

Re: gaim 0.73-1 package error

yeah that seems like a pretty major oversight wink

you should probably report this via the bugtracker for fastest results though, http://www.archlinux.org/phpbt/index.php or follow the link off the main page.

Hapy.

Re: gaim 0.73-1 package error

well missing perl in the dependency list is not the issue actually. perhaps it is simple a matter of a bad makefile and building as root. sometime these developers do weird changes to their makefiles that screw us up.

anyway file a bug or contact the maintainer of the package as he does not come to this forum at all.
