No automatic screen switching since update

Hello,
I have archlinux on my laptop and it works just fine.
Until last thursday I could even connect it to an external screen, close the lid and it would automagically switch on the external screen and adapt the display resolution to the highest possible and on reopening the lid, it switched back to the built-in screen.
I've never understood, which feature used to manage all this but as it used to work great, I never really cared.
Over the weekend, I didn't use any external screen but did some updates and now, it stopped working. The external screen is still detected, a KDE popup dialog asking if I want to reconfigure the display, but on closing and opening the lid, nothing happens, and so I have to go to the KDE system settings and configure the display myself.

Any ideas, how to restore the old behaviour?

As there was an update to the X server, I already tried to downgrade it to last week's version, but it didn't help.
I pasted my pacman.log to http://pastebin.com/r3GGGLsu, maybe anybody sees another package that could have broken this.

Thanks in advance,
Paolo
