New USB 3.0 flash drive dead after a day

Just bought a 32GB Super Talent Express RAM Cache USB 3.0 flash drive on eBay. I've only used it to transfer data between my two Linux machines, worked great for a day. Copied some data onto it from my laptop, then plugged it into my desktop and it wouldn't mount. Ran dmesg and saw an "unknown partition table" error so I created a new table and created a FAT32 partition using GParted. Tried to re-copy but it hung on one of the files and then the drive unmounted and re-appeared. Now it only sees 240MB of total space!!! I don't know if it's related, but I was getting errors every time I "safely removed" the flash drive on either of my computers...

Error detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: Detaching device /dev/sdg
USB device: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-1)
SYNCHRONIZE CACHE: FAILED: No such file or directory
(Continuing despite SYNCHRONIZE CACHE failure.)
STOP UNIT: FAILED: No such file or directory

Don't despair....the 3.0 system may not be compatible with your gparted.. Search for more background on 3.0 devices.

GParted was able to format it just fine the first time I plugged it in -- I had to erase the partition table in order to run a benchmark with Gnome Disk Utility.

Sounds like that 32GB drive is actually a relabelled 256MB drive.

Try testing with F3: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=47153

Re: New USB 3.0 flash drive dead after a day

I copied about 7GB of music on and off of it, so I know it was good until the partition table was suddenly corrupted. I am a bit skeptical of  its authenticity though, since the official picture shows the capacity engraved beside the words "USB3.0 Express RAM Cache" whereas mine just came with a sticker that says 32GB.

Re: New USB 3.0 flash drive dead after a day

RMA'd the flash drive and got a replacement today. I still get an error when "safely removing" it, but no problem unmounting as root from a command prompt. I hope it wasn't related to the first one failing. Any other Linux users have experience with these ERC drives?
