Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

Nightlies of lwjgl are giving me openal and sound sys problems, so they're a no go. The most recently release lwjgl works fine unless I put minecraft into fullscreen, then I can't get out of it. I've tried about every combination of Jre7 and a downgraded jre6 and lwjgl and nothing gives me a sane setup. Until this problem, whatever it is, gets resolved I'll just be using minecraft in non-fullscreen mode with JRE7 and the latest release of lwjgl.

Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

Did everyone that it has not worked for, use/try openjdk6, _and_ the "ordinary" lwjgl coming with minecraft (instead of these nightilies i have not tried) ?

I don't feel like i have any especially uncommon hardware, and i haven't had any problems with vanilla minecraft (non modded) for almost all recent releases, nor with an mcpatched one (for 256x res textures)

Been running a server with my friends, on arch, and connecting through arch, since about 1.3 and upwards smile

Yes, OpenJDK did not help. Right now (as opposed to what I said above), I running JRE6 and the latest release (not nightly) of lwjgl and not having any problems.

I've just tried this, downgraded to jre 6u26-1 and tried the lwjgl-2.7.1 libraries but now I'm getting a new error:

Did you try the ldconfig command cookiecaper gave with jre7?
That was the only thing I needed to get it working (x86_64).

Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

ldconfig command did not prevent pause screen lockout upon exit from fullscreen for me. It seems that people are getting very different results from all the different methods suggested.

Edit: 64bit, here.

I did indeed try that, no change on i686.

Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

Everyone mentions these external lwjgl libs, though i just go with the one packaged/pushed from the actual minecraft launcher jar, the one coming with/built for the game.
But, i suppose it works differently for everyone, it just bugs me that you all seem to have so much issues - like an irritating problem/mystery i'd like to solve smile

Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

The external libs fix a major stuck key issue for linux minecraft client, which has some seriously old lwjgl shipping with it.

Yeah, i know - i were just figuring on about the game not working at all for people, and i, even though i am used to the stuck key issue (just pressing once in the same direction remedies that until next keystroke/focus update), it does work with no issues for me, since 1.3 up until 1.7.3 now.
And - as a trial and error step - trying the actual released with game lib might be a first thing for people to try.

Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

The pause screen only works for me if the game is in full-screen mode. If I ever lose focus from Minecraft while playing, I have to exit the game and restart it to be able to control it. This was the same on jre6. I assume it is an incompatibility with the windowing systems used by Minecraft and the awesomewm tiling window manager which I use.

Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

It is probably the WM yeah, it works just fine in my openbox setup.

Though, there are probably window-behaviour and focus-settings for you to dabble with in whatever WM you use
- we are not in that "OS with the closed windows" after all smile

Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

Still can't get this to work. Here's what I've tried:

1) replace 32bit libs with 64bit libs (originals supplied with minecraft) and run with LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/opt/java/jre/lib/amd64"
2) replace original libs with latest stable lwjl (2.7.1)
3) replace 2.7.1 32bit libs with 2.7.1 64bit libs and run with LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/opt/java/jre/lib/amd64"
4) openjdk6
5) ldconfig /opt/java/jre/lib/amd64/ (which is more or less equivalent to 3 as far as I understand).

None of this has worked. Getting rather frustrated as this one of very few games I enjoy playing, even more so as I paid for it. Always results in same error (after setting user):

Exception in thread "Minecraft main thread" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /home/sirrom/.minecraft/bin/natives/liblwjgl64.so: /home/sirrom/.minecraft/bin/natives/liblwjgl64.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32 (Possible cause: architecture word width mismatch)

Re: Minecraft crashes with jre7.

That sounds like a 32-bit <-> 64-bit issue.

What about just removing minecraft and:

1. get OpenJDK
2. fetch the games launcher from minecraft, log in with your account and the games fetches the files it is supposed to run with
3. Profit, hopefully? smile

All this replacing of libraries, and jwgl and stuff seems to be so much work with no gain if it doesn't even work for some people smile

Hi PReP,

I'm more than willing to try that. Here's what happened:

But at least for this error Minecraft recognizes it has crashed and has asked me to report it to mjang, which I'm about to. Thanks.

Switching graphics drivers from open-source Nouveau to proprietary Nvidia gets Minecraft working again in this case. I'm using openjdk6

This probably should be [SOLVED] or such now,
and/or continued in a JRE7 bug thread (non arch-specific) perhaps.
