opinion on best quality and supported PSTN/Usb adapter?

Hey everyone,

looking to buy a PSTN/Usb adapter, can someone give me recommendations on what someone can buy with arch linux/pfsense support for running Asterisk? I have been looking at this one:

but it's somewhat expensive. I guess I wonder if one couldn't just simply use a magic jack or something? Would I notice a quality difference?
