Hello
I have an annoying issue.
When I mute my system's sound by pressed the 'Mute' multimedia key, alsa mutes... but then stays muted after I press the unmute key again, I have to go into alsamixer via the terminal to unmute it. I've tried alsactl however this doesn't seem to solve the issue. Any suggestions?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Anybody have any idea at all?
I still have this issue, I've been searching around for a solution but still no luck
Let me know if any further info is required to diagnose/resolve the issue.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help!

What handles your multimedia key? Maybe it's set to "enable mute" and not "toggle mute", since that's what you're trying to achieve.

I'm used Xmodmap. Perhaps you're right, I'm unable to check right now, however it worked previously without any issues and I didn't change anything. Although saying that, I run XFCE and I think my volume might even be handled by the 'volumed' package, I only needed to setup standard keys in Xmodmap for my keyboard layout.
Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it
