Sorry, did it the wrong way.
Reopening this one. Closing the other.
(I shouldn't have too many browser tabs open when doing stuff like this. )

To know or not to know ...
... the questions remain forever.

If I use this media when installing is there a difference on the install compared to the official release? (Apart from version numbers.)
Does it install the same software?
Does it include manpages?
Stuff like that.
Any differences or is it just the live media and install process that differs?
Offline
The resulting system is the same. It offers you a different installer and boot media. It's all described on the wiki page.

Thanks!
I've actually read the wiki but couldn't quite make out if the resulting system would be the same but now that's all cleared out!

there is still the problem will selecting package source when installing from usb stick. i tried mounting manually but after that and entering "Selecto package source" setup just quit.
i think i ahve to try with CD...

File isl-0.07-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted and it fails to install
archboot iso md5sum's are correct...
Can anyone confirm this problem?

In cd/usb mode it works just fine, perhaps in ftp mode the mirror is broken.

hi there...I was really anticipating this release since 2k11-R6 didn't work for me and I'm not that experienced to fix it manually.
Can I be sure that the installation will work if I choose gpt support and grub2-uefi with my Asus P8P67?

Why don't you try and let us know? Archboot installer is always WIP. There is never a fully finished and completely working install script. The more feedback we get, the better Archboot gets.
Archboot built-in grub2-uefi install support is not fully tested by many users since most of them install grub2-uefi manually by following the wiki using chroot (this is true of AIF based Archiso which does not include grub2 support).

Sorry i didn't see that manual mounting is not a loop so it runs into a script break.
Here is a fixed setup script that fixes this issue.

Or my usb flash drive is too old and corrupting things...
Tried with another usb disk and it worked... Sorry for not doing this before posting.
RIP 1GB flash.
Everything seems to install and work like it should, keep up the good work

ok, so I did a fresh install and erased Windows 7 completely from my harddrive. I did auto format ext4 with gpt support and chose grub2-efi-x86_64. Everything installed fine and grub2 was successfully installed, too. But after a reboot I ended up with a black screen and a blinking cursor on the top left corner. Arch didn't boot up. When hitting F8 on startup I can choose GRUB2 from the menu but that only leads to this black screen.
So I installed Windows 7 again and erased the harddrive completely. But now I still have that GRUB2 entry in the list when I hit F8 or enter the UEFI-Bios of my Asus P8P67. Is there anything I can do to get rid of that entry?
thanks

Instead of erasing the harddrive fully, you could have used https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Un … UEFI_Shell to launch grub.efi manually. Can you try doing that? If you are able to launch grub.efi manually using the Shell then the "black screen with a blinking cursor" problem might be due efibootmgr (soemthing wrong either with the command syntax used in the install script or with the program itself).
I use a firmware in which I can't test efibootmgr since I don't have a "real" UEFI system (I use Tianocore DuetPkg - UEFI chainloaded from BIOS) in which efibootmgr changes do not persist across reboots. Further testing from your side would be helpful.

ok, i managed to install packages, but instead of USB i use network connection. Now I'm trying to install grub2-uefi following instructions here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR … _for_GRUB2
but i get error after executing commands:
# mount -o bind /dev /tmp/install/dev
# mount -t proc /proc /tmp/install/proc/
# mount -t sysfs /sys /tmp/install/sys/
# chroot /tmp/install bash
chroot: failed to run command '/bin/bash': No such file or directory
What did i wrong ?
EDIT1:
ok, i found out that i need to mount also /lib beacasue
ldd /bin/bash
show references to /lib

@pejotr: Use grub2 uefi x86_64 option in "Install Bootloader" option in Archboot's /arch/setup . That should setup everything for you.

I did and it returns /sys/firmware/efi/vars/ directory not found, check whether you have booted in UEFI boot mode, manualy load efivars(did), etc

I ve readied that I need to boot in uefi mode. How is that?
I can see "EFI boot" option but if I do that, after it set nouveau it is impossible to read.
PS it is macbook air 3,2 so I suppose it "special"

/boot for PXE/Rescue files are provided here
I was wondering if there are any boot parameters available or planned to assist with automated network installations?
- E.g. I would like to have the network settings configured automatically.
I already tried using boot parameters in the standard form of: "ip=$ip::$gateway:$netmask BOOTIF=$mac" (filled in with the actual values by our pxe boot system)
But that results in an error:
/init_functions: line 86: [: !=: unary operator expected
Waiting 10 seconds for device ...
/init_functions: line: 90: [: too many arguments
ERROR: unable to determinate major/minor number of root device ''.
Judging by the "root device" message I think it automatically assumes I want some kind of NFS/NBD boot, but I just want to have the ip, netmask & gateway settings configured.
- Also I would like it to automatically download a configuration file and proceed with installation.
The wiki mentions automatic installations are possible: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Of … _Procedure
But that you have to invoke "aif -p automatic -c /path/to/configfile" from the command-line for that.
That does not sound very automatic to me.
Why not have a boot parameter like most other distributions have, along the lines of: "kickstart=http://my-server/configfile" ?

Automatic installation is not supported by archboot setup routine.
You can load custom config files/scripts packages etc. by usb using arch-addons boot parameter, there is no possibility to configure network from commandline right now.

The Linux kernel allows more than one initramfs file, and merges them.
So I can probably add/overwrite files that way when network booting, without the need for usb.
But still..
A standardized method for automated installations would be nice.
Because overwriting shell scripts with custom versions would probably require changes for every release.

For tpowa: New patch at https://gist.github.com/1080899. For actual changes go to https://bitbucket.org/the_ridikulus_rat … up..master
Changes:
* Some trivial changes
* Use blkid for detecting GPT, better than parted
* Split UEFISYS checking from GPT check - check_uefisyspart()
* Simplify grub2-uefi code in iso generation by using grub-mkstandalone instead of grub-mkimage (upstream does not recommend using grub-mkimage directly due to stability issues), got rid of memdisk mounting etc., in both all-in-one and update-setup scripts
* Split UEFI related common code and efibootmgr ones from grub2 functions so that other UEFI bootloaders can be implemented once they come out.
* Split initcpio arch_efibootmgr hook from arch_grub2 .
* Added arch_dmidecode hook. Use dmidecode for detecting Apple systems from non-Mac UEFI ones.
* Remove i386-efi pkg and scripts from the initramfs and iso, setup script support is not removed. Mainly aimed at reducing iso size.
I regenerated the iso using archboot-update-setup.sh script and it boots. Will test the setup changes in a few days.
