I thought it was quite interesting myself. Parsing XML is a chore. For config files, I've never had to use anything more complicated than good ol' "key=value" syntax. Keep it simple, I say.

I dont really see the issues with xml. Its a real power-tool when used correctly, and like most other powertools, its overkill for small and simple stuff... I guess the biggest problem with xml is that it is overhyped and used for the wrong cases, not xml itself
