Voxatron

www.humblebundle.com
pretty fun game, but I get stuck soon because my knowledge of the controls is very limited:
I can only move around and shoot in the same direction as I'm headed.
I'm read somewher you can also shoot diagonally, and normally even in a direction unrelated to where you're headed.
But as I couldn't find this explained anywhere, and the game has no "controls" config settings, I'm lost.

Re: Voxatron

Move with the arrow keys, aim with the mouse. I can't see my mouse cursor though smile

Re: Voxatron

I found the keyboard controls a little awkward myself. I plugged in an old USB gamepad and it worked fine out of the box.

I'm looking forward to the next version myself too. smile I had to edit the config file manually to get it to work with my dual monitor setup.

Re: Voxatron

They say it's an adventure game but the trailer only shows combat sequences... Is there anything else in the game?

Not yet. It's in early alpha stage. There will be more (according to the devs) when the game is finished.

Re: Voxatron

As far as controls go, I find the easiest is to move with WASD and shoot/aim with the numpad.

Re: Voxatron

I can't get the sound to work. Running from the terminal gives:

ALSA lib dlmisc.c:236:(snd1_dlobj_cache_get) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so

I installed lib32-alsa-plugins, but that doesn't seem to help. Also did some Google searching, and found some people who said that editing the ~/.lexaloffle/Voxatron/config.txt and changing audio 0 to audio 1 fixed the sound, but it looks like with the most recent version (1.4), that configuration variable is gone (tried inserting the audio 1 line anyways, but it didn't fix anything; still no sound and error message in the terminal).

Any ideas?

It's "lib32-alsa-lib" according to the AUR package. Maybe try that?

Sorry, I should have noted that I installed that package as well, since it was listed as a optional dependency.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=53606
But I'm not getting any sound... (ALSA)

Edit: to get the sound working, just delete /opt/voxatron/libSDL-1.2.so.0 !

Re: Voxatron

cool game.
i really like the configurable controls now.  it doesn't even prevent you from binding the same key to multiple actions, which you can leverage as an actual feature smile
too bad it was finished quite quickly, hopefully this game evolves more.
